“I find it hard to disassociate matter from the shape which makes it visible to the eye.” Magdalena Fernandez
The sensual fluidity of Magdalena Fernandez's videos disarms the viewer and takes him to a place only known to him. Place is, as Fernandez likes to define it, an environment, the sense of belonging... space. Fernandez's formally executed explorations add more tension to the visual polarity present in her videos and the sensorial always prevails over the pictorial. Yet by Fernandez's recording of a distorting geometric form or line to alter our perception of the real, can only allow her to establish new paradigms. |

I use art to express my world vision. In today's world, where so many things that are far removed from the essence of humanity invade us, art is my way to stay in touch with who we really are, with what really matters and what we are about.
Subjects and themes are used repeatedly to search for answers or to question reality as it is. At first glance some images may appear simple or like an elusive background. Maybe this is a way to distract the spectator or to get him in a more intricate registration throughout contemplation. Carolina Sardi, 2006 |
